What do health coaches do?


  • Most believe in the concept of bio-individuality. Health coaches are very client-driven. There is no one size fits all approach.  Health coaches can create customized plans for clients that are based on individual circumstances, lifestyle habits, health condition and other needs.
  • Health coaches work with clients preferably over several months, rather than a one off experience. Sessions last from 50 -60 minutes. Coaches are able to guide the client every step of the way so that we look into lifestyle choices and work on changing habits, resulting in meaningful and positive behavioural changes that last for a long time, delivering long-term health benefits. This is a lifestyle change not a 12 week plan.
  • Health coaches are very actioned based. Coaches focus on the implementation and integration of healthy changes into your life. In an age of information overload, coaches provide tools and information to use and how to make it work in your life based on world best practices.
  • Instead of treating the symptoms, most coaches address the underlying causes of their client’s health concerns. Exploring issues such as stress, emotional distress, physical activity, lack of “soul nourishment” etc. and how they affect overall wellbeing. Coaches cultivate awareness so that clients can improve all areas of their lives.

Health coaches helps clients establish positive self-talk (the things we tell ourselves) by identifying negative, irrational and erroneous beliefs. By becoming aware of situations where negative self-talk occurs, including times when you may say to yourself, “I hate doing this exercise,” health coaches help you shift to a more accurate and positive way of thinking. By listening and applying their expertise, they help you transform your self-talk to thoughts like, “This exercise is challenging, but I know I can do it!”
